Sizing Information
There are two main measurements for most body jewelry types: Gauge and Size
Gauge
This is the wire thickness of the jewelry. Most body piercing jewelry manufacturers, including us, use the Brown and Sharpe wire gauge (also known as the American wire gauge) to indicate the wire thickness. Remember, the bigger the number, the smaller the wire thickness. So, 20ga is the smallest gauge we sell and 2ga is much thicker. You can measure Gauge with our Dial Calipers.

Size (Length or Inside Diameter)
Size refers to the Length or Diameter of the jewelry. If the jewelry is round, like a ring, Size refers to the Diameter or, more specifically, the Inside Diameter of the jewelry. Length refers to the shortest distance between the ends of a piece such as a barbell, not including the balls or ends of the barbell. You can measure Length and Diameter with our Stainless Steel Ruler or our Dial Calipers.

These are guidelines to measuring jewelry. We do not and can not recommend jewelry sizes or gauges. If you are not certain what size to order, please consult a competent, professional piercer. If you do not know where to find one, please visit the Association of Professional Piercers website. |
